I visited Awaji island today.
There I could see how 1995 Kobe earthquake changed people’s life.
One of hotel staff I met said they now do regular evacuation drills against tsunami and earthquake. I think this kind of trainings make significant difference in the emergency situations.
If you look around the town, you see notice boards telling how high the location is from the sea level.
I now wonder if the Government prevailed this to nationwide scale or this is just in the island area.
Today, I also went to Nojima Fault preservation museum which is built to commemorate the Kobe earthquake.
You can see the magnitude of the Kobe earthquake by looking at the fault appeared on the surface on the land. I am sure there will be such museum to commemorate the 3.11, but the most important thing is how to pass on the experience to the next generation.
I wonder if building such museum is good enough..
